Obstetric Fistula Learning Community

The Obstetric Fistula Learning Community, hosted by the Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility (CGHSR), brings together women’s health leaders and partners from across the globe who champion obstetric fistula prevention and care initiatives.

Obstetric fistula is a devastating yet preventable childbirth injury that impacts women in low-income countries due to lack of access to timely and safe obstetric care. Through this collaboration, healthcare professionals, leaders and donors work together to drive more impactful and collaborative action around one of the most critical and neglected childbirth injuries affecting women today.

Through shared learning, innovation and community-driven leadership, we work to advance outreach, education, research, and systems of care for women affected by obstetric fistula.

This dynamic, cross-regional network brings together experts and advocates from countries including, but not limited to, Uganda, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Ethiopia—creating a global platform for exchange of ideas.

Together, we use a community of practice model to identify promising solutions, amplify local expertise and strengthen care delivery systems so that all women have access to timely, respectful maternal health and access to life-restoring fistula treatment.

“This community allows an important knowledge share that transcends geography and professions, igniting new ideas and laying the foundation for meaningful change in the women’s health sector.”
