UMN & IOM Co-lead Back-to-Back Trainings in Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda

In February, the Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility organized two back-to-back trainings for the United Nations Agency for Migration (IOM) – first in Nairobi, Kenya and then in Kampala, Uganda.

The trainings were part of a physical examination quality improvement program that was launched in late 2017 as part of the broader UMN-IOM partnership project. With leadership from Dr. Andrew Olson and Dr. Bill Stauffer, the goal of the program is to standardize and strengthen physical examination skills of IOM physicians through the development of guidelines and trainings. The program utilizes a train-the-trainer model whereby UMN faculty and partners train IOM master trainers on examination skills, training techniques, and approaches for giving effective feedback to colleagues. 

The trainings in February marked an exciting new phase in the program as the trainings were jointly designed and delivered by UMN faculty and IOM master trainers. The training team included:
