East Africa Network

The East Africa Network grows from strong University of Minnesota collaborations in Uganda that focus on pressing global health challenges.

We develop partnerships in the East African region that lay a sustainable foundation for interdisciplinary research and education with a culture of reciprocal engagement.

 


 

Our Uganda Hub

The Uganda Hub was established in August 2015 to lay the foundation for sustainable engagement. The major partners in this collaboration are Makerere University, Infectious Diseases Institute, Mulago Hospital, and University of Minnesota

Mfangano Field Station

The Mfangano Community Health Field Station is a community-rooted enterprise launched in collaboration between the University of Minnesota, Maseno University, and the Organic Health Response of Mfangano Island.

Seed Grants

Global Health Seed Grants for research in Uganda support partnerships between faculty from the University of Minnesota and institutions in Uganda, pursuing global health research.

Research Training Collaborative

Students gain hands-on experience in global health research under the mentorship of UMN and Ugandan faculty members. Teams from both UMN and partner institutions propose small-scale research projects to be carried out over the course of a year.

Fogarty Fellowship

The Global Health Fellowship Program is a 12-month clinical research training program for post-doctorate trainees and doctoral students in the health professions, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health’s Fogarty International Center (FIC)
