UMN Delivers Research Methods Training in Cairo for Health Educators from Kabul

February 26, 2019

As part of the University of Minnesota partnership with Kabul University of Medical Sciences (KUMS), a week-long training was held in Cairo, Egypt January 21-25, 2019. Over twenty faculty members from KUMS participated in a short course on research methods led by Dr. Darin Erickson and Dr. Carolyn Porta. These faculty represented the disciplines of midwifery, medical lab technology, dentistry, and anesthesiology. Participants learned how to develop a meaningful research question, identify an appropriate data source/data collection method, and develop an analysis plan. Additionally, as this was the last face-to-face meeting during the existing project period, representatives from UMN, KUMS, and Manipal Academy of Higher Education - a key partner in India - also dedicated time to discuss project sustainability going forward.
