Fogarty Fellowship Applications Now Open

Applications for the National Institutes of Health Fogarty Global Health Fellowship are now open and must be submitted by Monday, Sept. 15, 2025.  

The fellowship is available to University of Minnesota doctoral students and postdoc trainees and offers a year of mentored research training. It is designed for those interested in pursuing a career in research and allows trainees to work at international sites, including Cameroon, Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Nepal, Peru, Thailand and Uganda.

The University of Minnesota is a member of Northern/Pacific Global Health Research Fellows Training Consortium, which operationalizes the fellowship.

Eligibility

  • The fellowship is available to University of Minnesota doctoral students and postdoc trainees
  • Applicants must propose a research project to be conducted at one of the approved international locations
  • Applicants must be able to spend 12 months at the fellowship site
  • Applicants must have a mentor selected from both the University of Minnesota and one of the approved international partner sites

  • Non-communicable diseases
  • Environmental health

  • Implementation science

Timeline

  • Applications open May 15, 2025
  • Applications must be submitted by Sept. 15, 2025
  • Application review will take place between September and November of 2025; interviews will be conducted between late September and mid-October 2025
  • Fellowships begin July 1, 2026
