Applications Now Open for Global Health Course in India

Applications are now open for the Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility’s winter break course that takes place in Mysore, India. 

The two-week course, India: Global Health, Globalization & Leadership, is open to UMN graduate and professional students in addition to UMN faculty, staff and community learners. UMN graduate students are eligible to take the class for academic credit (3 cr.). 

The course emphasizes the significance of social determinants of health in a globalized world, with a focus on health systems, economic growth, and development, and their effects on wellbeing. It is taught through a combination of classroom-based activities and site visits to health care facilities, cultural sites and community locations. 

The course is an opportunity for students to experience a meaningful global health curriculum with an interdisciplinary group of learners. 

Course Dates

Dec. 30, 2024 – Jan. 15, 2025 | Expected travel dates: Departing the U.S. on Dec. 28, 2024, and arriving back in the U.S. on Jan. 16, 2025.

  • R. Balasubramaniam (Balu), Vivekananda Institute of Indian Studies, Mysore; 

  • Community Instructors: Instructors from Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement partner organizations

Application

Students will complete and submit their application through the UMN Learning Abroad Center. Applications are open until Oct. 1, 2024. 

Scholarships
