The Thailand Hub builds on joint education initiatives and collaborative research studies that have been ongoing over the last 25 years.

The University of Minnesota Academic Health Center (AHC) launched the Thailand Hub in April 2016. The Hub is anchored by strong collaborations between the University of Minnesota and universities in Thailand, as well as with non-governmental and inter-governmental organizations, placing a high priority on mutual benefit and exchange. Work of the Hub is centered in Chiang Mai and the work is guided by the Minnesota - Thailand Interest Group.

Key AHC activities in Thailand

Activities involve research projects, educational opportunities and capacity building. Educational collaborations span multiple disciplines and include unidirectional and bidirectional endeavors between the UMN and various Thailand university and organizational partners.  Research projects range from clinical trials to field- and community-based to population-level, including the human-animal interface. Capacity-building efforts include large-scale institutional initiatives and individual professional development offerings and opportunities.  These collaborations also provide exceptional hands-on experiences for students, residents, and post-doctoral researchers and a unique opportunity for capacity building for academic faculty and professionals in other sectors.

See the Global Health Impact Map for details on specific Thailand Activities.
