Information Session | Thailand: Community and Environmental Health in Chiang Mai

CGHSR is hosting an information session Thursday, April 30, from 12 – 1 p.m. CDT on its new global health course in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 

This session will be an opportunity for interested students to learn more about the course and ask questions of CGHSR staff. The information session will be hosted via Zoom. UMN graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the general public are eligible to apply for this course. International learners with a UMN affiliation are also eligible to apply. 

This two-week course, which will be offered during January Term 2027, has a special emphasis on the environmental health issues facing rural, migrant and refugee populations in Thailand. The course is offered in partnership with Chiang Mai University.

Course topics include: 

  • Public health infrastructure in Thailand
  • Rural, migrant, and refugee health
  • Environmental determinants of health, alternative medicine, and AI in healthcare

Through lectures, site visits and interactions with Thai community leaders, this course aims to enable students to think critically about the interaction of various determinants of health and their impact on community members and wellbeing.
